Geist*Studio x Awwwards Jury 2025

JURY 2025

We’re proud to share that our Creative Director, Mat Moses, has been invited to join the jury at Awwwards – one of the most prestigious platforms in the world for recognising creative excellence on the web. It’s a huge honour, not just for Mat personally, but for us as a studio. This moment marks a significant milestone in the journey of Geist*Studio and the kind of work we continue to shape with our clients.

For those who may not be familiar, Awwwards is widely regarded as the gold standard for digital design recognition. Since its founding in 2009, the platform has curated a global space for celebrating the most innovative, thoughtful, and technically accomplished websites from across the industry. Whether it’s a product launch microsite, an experimental portfolio, or a purpose-driven campaign, the work featured on Awwwards is known for pushing boundaries in both form and function. But it’s more than just a digital trophy cabinet. It’s also a global network of designers, developers, and studios – a living archive of ideas, experiments, and benchmarks that help set the pace for the future of web design.

WHAT IS AWWWARDS?

The Awwwards jury is a carefully selected panel of creative leaders, design visionaries, UX specialists, and digital pioneers. These are people who aren’t just skilled in craft, but who understand where the web is headed and how great design can elevate brand, user experience, and impact. Jury members are tasked with reviewing submissions from around the world, scoring them across a rigorous set of criteria that includes design, usability, creativity, content, and development. What makes Awwwards unique is its balance – it doesn’t only reward things that look beautiful, but those that work beautifully too. Innovation doesn’t mean much unless it’s meaningful. Mat’s appointment to this panel is a reflection not just of his creative excellence, but of his commitment to design that connects, inspires, and performs.

What this means for our clients is simple – you’re working with a team that’s not only tuned into best practice, but actively helping define it.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

As a leading branding agency, we see this as more than a moment of personal recognition for Mat. It’s a signal of where we’re going as a team. It reflects the calibre of thinking that drives our work and the kind of company we’re building – one that’s unafraid to enter global conversations around design, and one that’s determined to keep its standards high for every project, no matter the size or sector. To have one of our own shaping the criteria by which the best in digital design is judged speaks volumes about the kind of work we’re trusted to do, and the kind of insight we bring to the table.

What this means for our clients is simple – you’re working with a team that’s not only tuned into best practice, but actively helping define it. In an increasingly crowded digital landscape, good is no longer good enough. Brands need to stand out, not just in how they speak but in how they move, behave, and feel online. With Mat now serving on the Awwwards jury, our clients gain direct access to the kinds of insights, frameworks, and benchmarks that top-performing websites are being judged against on a global stage. It’s not about chasing awards for their own sake – it’s about raising the bar, project by project, so that everything we make is clearer, more compelling, and more future-proof than what came before.

We’ve always believed that great design doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when teams have the time, space, and trust to push ideas further. It happens when creative direction isn’t just a role, but a mindset – one that constantly asks: “What else is possible?” That’s the kind of mindset Mat brings to our studio, and it’s the same spirit that Awwwards celebrates across its platform. Being part of that community doesn’t just keep us inspired – it keeps us accountable. It reminds us that every decision we make, from typography to transitions, from information architecture to motion design, is part of a bigger story about how people experience the web.

PURPOSE AND POWER

There’s also something powerful about the timing of this appointment. As a studio that works with a high number of purpose-led and B Corp-aligned organisations, we’re constantly navigating the balance between bold creative expression and thoughtful, values-driven storytelling. Too often, these things are seen as opposing forces – as if creativity and impact are in tension with one another. But we don’t see it that way. We see awards and acclaim not as vanity, but as velocity – the momentum that helps good ideas get seen, shared, and supported. When good work gets recognised, it creates space for even better work to follow.

And when purpose-driven brands are elevated through world-class digital design, their missions reach more people – which is what matters most.
